Faker publicly disagrees with T1’s 10-man roster

The legendary mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok disagrees with his team’s 10-man roster approach.

T1 has been experimenting a lot with its new 10-man roster during the first weeks of the 2021 LCK Spring Split and it has been with very mixed results. This has gotten the face of the organization, Faker, to address the approach. More specifically, Faker has admitted in an interview that he thinks it’s stressful for the players to have a 10-man roster.

When Faker was asked about his opinion on the 10-man roster, the superstar said directly that he thinks some players could suffer from a lot of stress when constantly competing for the starting spot. Faker added that an upside to the 10-man roster strategy is that the rookie players can look towards other players on the team when they slip up.

What I feel lately is that there could be players who are suffering a lot because of the competition between the 10-men roster,” Faker said. “I think players will also get a lot of stress.”

Faker explained that he is having to adjust to the new approach to the game set by T1’s head coach Yang “Daeny” Dae-in. Previously, Faker has been used to being the only mid laner for the team, taking away the possibility of being swapped out from game to game. According to Faker, this made it possible for him to synergize better with his team.

For 2021, Faker will have to approach the game differently and try to build up synergy with his team without being present in the game for every single match.

T1’s new head coach Daeny was picked up for the 2021 season after he succeeded greatly with DWG KIA last year with whom he won the 2020 World Championship. Moving on to coach T1 has brought a lot of new strategies to the table that fans are already starting to see.

While Daeny’s view of the game clearly contradicts Faker’s, the two will hopefully find a middle ground over the course of the Spring Split. If that happens, T1 could end up as a scary team in the LCK with a lot of different strategies up its sleeve.

T1 is currently sitting at a 3-4 record in the LCK, which isn’t what fans expected. After trying out different team variations, T1 might start to make a comeback in the standings in the upcoming weeks. So far, all T1 rookies have gotten a chance to play except for the young jungler Moon “Oner” Hyeon-joon.

T1 will play its next game on February 6 against Fredit BRION

What is the T1 2021 LCK roster?

T1 is fielding a 10-man roster for the 2021 LCK season, which is giving them a lot of flexibility in between games. It also means that it will take some time for T1 to find the strongest starting lineup, which is something the team is experimenting with during the 2021 LCK Spring Split.

The T1 2021 LCK roster is:

  • Top - Kim “Canna” Chang-dong / Choi “Zeus” Woo-je
  • Jungle - Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan / Choi “Ellim” El-lim / Moon “Oner” Hyeon-joon
  • Mid - Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok / Lee “Clozer” Ju-hyeon
  • Bot - Park “Teddy” Jin-seong / Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong
  • Support - Ryu “Keria” Min-seok

Does Faker own T1?

Faker became a part-owner of T1 when he renewed his contract for the 2020 season. This means that Faker isn’t only a player for the T1 franchise anymore but also an owner in the T1 Entertainment & Sports company.
