Viego won’t be available for week 3 of the LEC as planned
The newest League of Legends champion Viego won’t be available for Week 3 of the 2021 LEC Spring Split.
According to LEC commissioner Maximilian Peter Schmidt, Viego won’t be available for the LEC teams to play during the upcoming week even though that was the original plan. The original rule states that new champions are disabled in the LEC for the first two weeks after its release, but due to several game-breaking bugs on Viego, this rule has now been extended.
Viego will remain disabled for this #LEC Week but we will be re-evaluating his appearance in competitive play for Patch 11.3 (@LEC Week 4). https://t.co/jLlWc7aR9o pic.twitter.com/0eqSW8PSlJ

Even though many fans have looked forward to seeing the Ruined King enter Summoner’s Rift on the professional stage, it seems like the correct choice to disable Viego further for the time being. Because of Viego’s unique kit, where he is able to possess slain enemies and get their abilities and items, a lot of big bugs have followed along with it.
Players have experienced one game-breaking Viego bug after the other in solo queue, to a point where it wouldn’t be healthy to release him on the tournament realm for competitive matches. LEC is the first big league to delay his debut, but it’s likely that other leagues will do the same until he is bug-free.
Some of the most substantial bugs that have been discovered are mainly based around his passive Sovereign’s Domination, where Viego can gain permanent buffs after taking down enemies that should usually go away after the passive expires. There has even been video proof of a bug where Viego single-handedly crashes the whole game.
According to Schmidt, the LEC will be “re-evaluating his appearance in competitive play for patch 11.3”. Patch 11.3 has just hit the live servers as of today, which means that fans will have to wait at least another week to see the best European players on Viego.
How do you play Viego?
Viego is an aggressive champion who likes to skirmish and take on fights when possible. He is great at assassinating squishy targets while kiting around while being camouflaged by Harrowed Path (E). Viego wants to play aggressively and try to snowball from very early on in the game. If he doesn’t succeed in that, Viego can be shut down by tanks and hard crowd control.
Is Viego a jungler?
Viego is considered a jungler but has proven himself viable in other roles as well. After his release on Patch 11.2, players have been playing him in both the top and mid lane as well. While Viego is played the most in the jungle, he has the best win rate in the mid lane as of Patch 11.2. His worst win rate is in the jungle, but players might still need time to learn his kit and playstyle.
