Astralis may be the greatest team in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive today, but it’s not yet perfect.
For all of its trophies, medals, and major victories, the team hasn’t really engaged fans seeking drama or controversy. While a Natus Vincere can keep fans on the edges of their seats with rumors of infighting, Astralis just keeps plodding forward and winning every tournament it competes in. How boring!
Enter Herschel Beahm IV, also known as Dr. Disrespect. The prominent streamer known for his ruthless and bombastic on-camera persona partnered with Astralis for a lesson in the ways of smack talk. As one would expect, the results were hilarious:
The video is a dramatization, but there is plenty of pointed humor that comes at the expense of Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and Emil "Magisk" Reif. While it was certainly all in good fun, the team's members don’t pull any punches with each other.
That said, there are no signs of any actual turmoil when it comes to the Danish squad. Far from it.
The team completed a championship run at the 2019 Katowice Major and looked dominant from start to finish. After a strong run in the Legends Stage highlighted by a +45 round differential, the Danish side was nearly flawless in the Champions Stage playoffs, never dropping a map in series played against Ninjas in Pyjamas, MiBR, and ENCE Esports.
Astralis is showing no signs of slowing down and is likely to stay active through the spring tournament season. The team will be the favorite at any tournament it participate in, and after partnering with Dr. Disrespect, Astralis might even be able to lay the smackdown both in-game and on the microphone.
