New CSGO framerate-lowering bug fixed by Astralis' Bubzkji
A new bug in Valve's shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has frustrated competitive players, who are now desperately seeking a viable solution. Astralis rifler Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen has a temporary fix until Valve comes through with a proper patch.
Competitive CSGO players understand the value of high framerates. To get the most out of their PCs, players often play on the lowest settings and sacrifice beauty for function. Tailoring the settings is a trusted solution to maximize performance and get the highest possible framerate. However, a new bug has been tarnishing the competitive experience in CSGO.
FPS problems can arise from CPU and GPU bottlenecking, server issues, client issues, and sometimes other programs sapping memory. Lowered graphic settings decrease the chances of noticeable frame drops. However, players are complaining that a new glitch persists on low settings, too.
Even players with strong PCs have lost FPS in the middle of a game. They'd connect into the game and, after a few rounds, the framerates would decline drastically. While players have found a fix in resetting the in-game resolution, it isn't the most convenient option. The bug has effectively squeezed the fun out of the shooter as Valve still hasn't acknowledged the problem.
How to fix FPS drop CSGO bug
Astralis' professional player Bubzkji came forward with a quick fix for the problem.
friendly reminder for anyone who experiences the fps bug in CS, just type "logaddress_add 1" in console and it's fixed. No need to record / change res to get normal fps.

The Danish pro explained that a simple console command could bypass the issue. Here's how to fix the issue when a sudden FPS drop happens:
- Go to Game settings in options.
- Enable console (~)
- Go back in-game and press tilde key (~)
- A command console will appear on your screen.
- Type logaddress_add 1 here and press enter
This command should reset the framerate after a few minutes and alleviate the problem for a short time. This is not a permanent fix and framerates could still plummet as a result of this bug, but these console commands can help players ride out the rest of a close game.
While most players are just discovering the problem with FPS, several CSGO players confirmed that the issue has existed for years. This discussion comes at a good time, as Valve has been on an update spree of late, actively delivering new patches. This bug requires the urgent attention of the developers as framerates play a crucial role in shooter games. For now, players may use the console command while Valve cooks up a fix.
