ENCE continues to rebuild struggling CSGO team, drops Twista

Assistant coach and analyst Slaava “⁠Twista⁠” äsänen will bid farewell to ENCE as the organization gears for a major overhaul in 2021. 

In a “mutual agreement,” the organization and the coach have decided to part ways to facilitate the revamp at ENCE’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive division. The assistant coach to Eetu “⁠sAw⁠” Saha will continue his journey in another organization.

ENCE’s association with Twista dates back to the organization’s peak days in 2018. The coach guided several rosters under ENCE’s banners to various victories, including top finishes at StarSeries i-League Season 6 and BLAST Pro Series Madrid. The highlight was when Twista helped the team reach the finals of the 2019 IEM Katowice Major. However, Twista was one of 37 coaches alleged to have utilized the “coaching bug.” The ESIC handed Twista a 15-month ban, which forced him out of the team’s competitive efforts. Many were critical when the organization seemingly tried to shield him from punishment by shuffling him from a coach to an analyst role.

ENCE trying to rebuild its CSGO division

Twista’s suspension was a tough blow to an ENCE organization that was already facing serious challenges with its CSGO team. His transfer was followed by Jani “Aerial” Jussila stepping down from the active roster, citing medical issues. Jere “sergej” Salo soon followed suit and exited the Finnish organization to pursue a career in the military. A Twitter drama erupted around Aleksi “allu” Jalli discussing the roster moves on a podcast. Finally, ENCE was left with three players as Miikka “suNny” Kemppi parted ways.

With just three players on its roster, and one of those players unable to compete in majors, ENCE is left with no other option than to build a team from the ground up. The organization has revealed that the revamp “extends to the coaching staff” due to which Twista must move on. The Finnish team is without an in-game leader, and may be preparing for Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen’s exit, according to reports.

Looking at ENCE’s performance in 2020, something needs to change in the team. With multiple coaches and players available as free agents, it’d be interesting to see how ENCE rebuilds its CSGO roster.
