Former LoL pro and analyst Krepo hints at return to streaming

Mitch “Krepo” Voorspoels, former professional League of Legends player, caster, and analyst, announced via Twitter that he will return to streaming soon after taking a four-year hiatus from social media, Twitch, and public life in the League of Legends community.

Krepo’s controversy

Krepo was known as a support player for Evil Geniuses and Elements before transitioning to a broadcast role in 2015. He was a fan favorite behind the desk and on the mic. He was a part of some of the most iconic moments and calls of that era of professional play. During his time as a broadcaster he made appearances for the NA LCS, EU LCS, Mid Season Invitational and the World Championship.

In the summer of 2017, Krepo announced that he would be stepping down as a talent for the EU LCS broadcast and the Mid-Season Invitational. This was following explicit photos of him leaking online during the tournament, as well as allegations that he’d sent such photos to unknowing women. This would also mark the last day that Krepo would be seen posting on social media since his recent resurgence.

This announcement was met with condolences from fans and industry figures alike, understanding why he was stepping away and hoping for a return in the future.

After stepping down and taking some time to work on himself, according to his recent post, Krepo started working behind the scenes with various European organizations. He was briefly an analyst for Splyce, a coach for FC Schalke 04 during its finals run in 2018, and a management figure for both Vitality and G2 Esports.

In his post he describes this time as formative for him growing as a person post-scandal, learning from the friendships he formed behind the scenes.

Kreop discusses plans for the future

Now, Krepo said that after all this time of watching League of Legends and World of Warcraft that he wants to return to streaming to discuss and analyze the games with other people.

His post goes on to say that he will probably not return fully to social media in the future, and will still continue to work in a background role in the community in the long term, but that he will stream again soon.

His comeback announcement was met with mostly positive feedback. Fans remember his desk presence and want to see his return to some sort of analysis work, and current industry figures are wishing him well in his return to public life.
