G2 Esports found a win against Rogue, but it was a bigger fight than fans expected.

The battle in the 2019 LEC Spring Split continues, this time featuring the first and last-place in the standing. The match showed a new side of G2 and mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Winther.

As expected, Rek’Sai was a priority pick for G2. The jungle champion received some significant buffs in Patch 9.4 that made her much more relevant in the competitive scene.

On the other side, Rogue went for Jax, a pick that has been more successful in the LCS. Team SoloMid used Jax to break Team Liquid’s undefeated record, and Rogue decided to try it for themselves against G2.

G2 jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski and his teammates understood Rogue’s win condition right away.

The number one team in the LEC decided to focus its attention on the top side of the map in order to get Jax behind. Keeping Rogue top laner Finn “Finn” Wiestål from snowballing would be the key to success.

For the first time in the season, Caps struggled in the mid lane. His Zoe couldn’t stand the pressure from the enemy Sylas. Instead of staying put in a losing lane, Caps decided to roam and pressure elsewhere on the map.

That pressure and superior team fighting allowed G2 to grow a significant gold advantage. In the mid game, G2 became unstoppable.

Rogue had been able to largely contain G2 in the laning phase, but the team now suddenly found itself without answers. At 26 minutes, G2 secured a baron buff and aced the enemy team. It was enough to put yet another notch in the win column for G2 Esports.
