100 Thieves has entered the Apex Legends scene with three content creator and pro player signings, and they are a bit off the beaten path.

First, the organization signed Connor “Gigz” White, a mainstay in the Destiny 2 PVP community. 100 Thieves next went out and snagged “Teenage,” who the organization described as “an H1Z1 player and former number one Widowmaker in Overwatch.”

100 Thieves also says that Teenage holds the single-game kill record in Apex with 41 kills. Only 60 players appear in a single match, which means Teenage would’ve taken down more than two-thirds of players in that record game.

As for their third, 100 Thieves has added “Lifted,” a former H1Z1 professional player who the organization claims is in the top 10 for recorded kills in Apex Legends.

100 Thieves has been investing heavily in battle royale titles this month. The organization also hired four Fortnite players before signing the first two players of the new Apex Legends squad. While Fortnite’s popularity has dropped as of late, it’s still a massive title. Apex Legends continues to take the world by storm.

It’s unclear what will happen with the competitive scene in Apex Legends, but 100 Thieves and other big esports organizations are gearing up for the possibilities. With the rapidly changing world of battle royale title prize pools and fluctuating fan interest, any major investment is a calculated risk.

Entering the scene alongside 100 Thieves have been Team Liquid, NRG Esports, and Cloud9.

Apex Legends developer Respawn has not gone into detail about how a ranked system would be implemented, nor has it announced any investment into the competitive side of the new game.
