Fortnite’s Season 8 Battle Pass is full of changes and new additions, including over 100 pirate-themed cosmetics that unlock as players level up.

Unlocking the Season 8 Battle Pass by completing last season’s Overtime Challenges results in the unlocking of two brand new outfits: Blackheart and Hybrid. Other notable skins include Sidewinder and Master Key. Every new skin in this season’s battle pass comes with unlockable style options that become available once players complete various in-game objectives.

New emotes, weapon wraps, and pets are all exclusive to players with the Season 8 Battle Pass. There’s also a banana skin, which turns players into an actual banana that ripens over the course of the game. For many people this alone may be worth the 950 V-Bucks.

But Fortnite’s Season 8 Battle Pass isn’t just cosmetic. The patch changes that came with it hit a sour note for many of the pro players who are competing in the ESL Katowice Royale tournament this weekend.

“I’m at a three-day $500K tournament and I’m ready. Oh wait, my drop spot just got removed,” said Team Liquid’s Jake “Poach” Brumleve.

At previous tournaments, Poach had favored dropping at the containers area of Fortnite’s map. A change in drop zones just before a tournament isn’t ideal for Poach, as he now has to come up with an entirely new plan of action with very little time to practice it.

Fellow Team Liquid player Thomas “72hrs” Mulligan also tweeted out his frustration at the patch, which eliminated his favorite drop spot in Walling Woods.

Game changing patches have been released before large Fortnite tournaments in the past, including the Winter Skirmish tournament that saw controversy over the addition of the powerful Infinity Sword.
