Former SKT jungler Kang “Blank” Sun-gu officially returns to play in the LCK as he will play for KT Rolster in the upcoming 2021 season.

After playing for the Japanese team Sengoku Gaming in the LJL, Blank will return to the big stage with one of the most prominent esports organizations in League of Legends. He will be the team’s jungler for the LCK alongside young talents Lee “Bonnie” Gwang-su and Kim “GIDEON” Min-seong. It’s still unknown which player will get the most of the playing time between the three.

Even though Sengoku Gaming was among the best teams in the LJL, it didn’t manage to qualify for the 2020 World Championship, which was the side’s ultimate goal.

Blank and his squad finished second in the 2020 LJL Spring Split, followed by a third-place finish in the summer. The team was knocked out by DetonatioN FocusMe in both splits, and it was that team that got the one and only LJL seed at Worlds.

Blank left the LCK to join Sengoku Gaming after the 2018 season where he and SKT didn’t manage to reach Worlds. Back then, Blank was one of the biggest scapegoats of the team’s failure which ultimately led to his departure. His time in LJL might have gotten him back in form, which KT Rolster will now be betting its money on.

When playing at his best, Blank could without a doubt be a competitive jungler in the LCK. He will look to find that form on KT Rolster, surrounded by a lot of young players who are eager to win.

Blank and Faker

What role does Blank play?

Blank is a jungler and has been since he started his career in late 2014. Blank started in China, but joined SKT for the 2016 season. Under that legendary organization, Blank got to play alongside Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and proved his worth in the jungle.

Did KT Rolster play at Worlds 2020?

KT didn’t play at the 2020 World Championship after finishing what was a disappointing season overall. KT didn’t manage to make things work in 2020. The organization finished the 2020 LCK Spring Split in fifth place and didn’t even make it to the playoffs in the summer. KT got to play in the regional qualifier for the last Worlds spot, but was knocked out in the first round by Afreeca Freecs.

What is the 2021 KT Rolster lineup?

KT will be fielding an 11-man roster for 2021, which gives the team a lot of room for adjustments in the starting lineup throughout the season. KT is keeping a few experienced players to lead all of the young players that have been picked up.

The KT Rolster 2021 LCK lineup is:

  • Top – Cho “Castle” Hyeon-seong / Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon
  • Jungle – Kang “Blank” Sun-gu / Lee “Bonnie” Gwang-su / Kim “GIDEON” Min-seong
  • Mid – Son “Ucal” Woo-hyeon / Lee “Vicla” Dae-gwang
  • Bot – Lee “HyBriD” Woo-jin / Oh “Noah” Hyeon-taek
  • Support – Park “Rebel” Geun-woo / Jang “Zzus” Joon-soo

KT is currently participating in the 2020 KeSPA Cup, but it’s unknown if Blank will get to pay there. KT plays its first game on December 22.
