Esports’ popularity has reached a huge spike in the past couple of years. Millions of fans around the world tune in to live streams to watch World Championships in some of the most popular competitive games. They are filled with fun and excitement, and to play them takes a lot of knowledge, intelligence, reflexes, and dedication.

Not only is this type of sport popular, but recently people have even started betting on the teams competing. What makes this activity so great is that the odds are always fantastic and there are plenty of betting options. This will be a closer look at betting on esports by naming the three most popular games when it comes to wagering money, and share a gem on where can you actually place bets.

Dota 2

Dota 2 is a very popular game and the sequel to the legendary Defense of the Ancients. There are plenty of Dota 2 tournaments, but the most popular one is The International. The prize pool in 2019 reached its peak after OG won, totalling over $34 million. Betting on Dota 2 is extremely popular and many sportsbooks feature this game.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Next up, we have another legendary name. This FPS was released in 2012 and it is the fourth instalment in the Counter-Strike series. Upon its release, CSGO received many positive reviews from critics and it was not long before this game was featured in numerous tournaments around the world. As of 2020, CS:GO has over 24 million players worldwide.

League of Legends

Finally, we have one of the most popular games ever created. League of Legends is an multiplayer online battle arena game that was released in 2009. As of right now, it counts more than 110 million active player accounts. Although the tournaments for this game are not as heavy on prizes as The International, they are still followed by millions of people. The sport’s popularity is what makes it one of the most featured esports games at sportsbooks.

Where can you bet on esports?

As far as betting itself, the first option is at the land-based sportsbooks. But not every facility features betting on esports, which is why some go with another option in the form of online sportsbooks. Not only do most online sportsbooks feature esports, they also offer tons of bonuses and promotions, more betting options, better odds, better safety and security, and much more.

Users can even play various casino games that are inspired by esports games. These can be fun to play, have tons of rewards, and may provide users with a unique gaming experience. Head over to one of the best online casinos if you want to check them out.
