LGD Gaming has found its new mid laner for the 2021 LPL season and it’s none other than Chen “Uniboy” Chang-Chu, who impressed fans at the 2020 World Championship.

According to ahq eSports Club, the young mid lane talent has transferred to LGD in the LPL after a mutual agreement was made between the two organizations and Uniboy himself. Uniboy joins the team after an impressive performance at the 2020 World Championship play-in stage, where he helped PSG Talon qualify for the group stage. Uniboy was substituting for Park “Tank” Dan-won.

While Uniboy got to play at Worlds 2020, his season with ahq in the PCS didn’t go as expected. The team had high expectations of winning trophies but was knocked out of the spring split in the playoff semifinals. In the summer, ahq performed even worse, as they ended in fourth place.

Uniboy will now get his chance in a major region for the first time in his career. He will compete in what fans and experts call the most competitive league in the world, so there will be plenty of chances to improve himself as a talented individual.

Uniboy will be replacing veteran mid laner Su “Xiye” Han-Wei, who recently joined JD Gaming. Xiye helped LGD on its way to Worlds 2020, where the team made it through the play-in stage but was knocked out of group C.

For 2021, LGD is looking to try out a very young team with only bot laner Ha “Kramer” Jong-hun remaining from the 2020 starting lineup. There will be a lot of question marks surrounding the team coming into the season, and only time will tell how far they can go.

The 2020 LPL Spring Split starts in January 2021.

Who is Uniboy in LoL?

Uniboy is a 19-year-old mid laner from Taiwan. He has played actively in the LMS and later in the PCS region. Uniboy started his career at ahq Fighter back in 2017 and has since then played for top teams in his region such as MAD Team, ahq eSports Club, and then PSG Talon at Worlds 2020. Uniboy was picked up as a temporary player at Worlds 2020 because PSG Talon had visa issues with its starting players. Uniboy ended up exceeding expectations, which is likely why he is now a coveted player for LPL teams.

What is the 2021 LGD Gaming lineup?

After a lot of changes in the 2021 preseason, LGD now has its lineup for the upcoming season. Like many LPL teams, LGD is fielding a roster with several players for each position, which means that the official starting roster is still unknown.

The players on LGD Gaming for 2021 is:

  • Top – Chen “Cult” Guo-Ji / Fang “Garvey” Jia-Wei
  • Jungle – Xu “Flora” Hui / Ding “Kui” Zi-Hao
  • Mid – Chen “Uniboy” Chang-Chu / Hu “Yuuki” Hao-Ming
  • Bot – Ha “Kramer” Jong-hun
  • Support – Lin “Peace” Shang-Ren

The new LPL roster will be back in the LPL when it kicks off in January 2021.
