sOAZ rumored to coach French LDLC OL for the 2021 season

One of the biggest veterans in League of Legends is rumored to return to Europe in 2021, but not as a player. 

26-year-old top laner Paul “sOAZ” Boyer is rumored to be coaching the French LFL team LDLC OL in the upcoming season after the team won the European Masters Spring event in the 2020 season. If the rumors are true, this will be the first time that sOAZ is signed as a coach after almost 10 years as a professional player. 

The former Fnatic top laner was last seen playing for Immortals in the 2020 LCS Spring Split, before being demoted to the Academy team. For the summer split, sOAZ has not been playing actively and many fans thought that he was officially done. This also seems to be true, but only as a player. 

sOAZ could retire from playing, become a coach

With years of experience, sOAZ will now look to take the next step in his career and become a coach, which could mean that he retires from playing actively. This seems like a good choice for a player that has been playing at a high level since the very first World Championship back in 2011, but whose form has waned in recent splits.

After participating at the first World Championship, sOAZ was been a part of Fnatic for years, winning four domestic trophies and going to Worlds a total of six times. Even though sOAZ didn’t end his career on the best note with Immortals, he will without a doubt go down in the history books as one of the greatest European top laners. 

It’s not official if sOAZ will join LDLC OL as a coach, but there will likely be an announcement in the upcoming weeks.

sOAZ is a former professional top laner who has played since Season 1. sOAZ participated with Against All Authority at the first World Championship in 2011, where he was knocked out by Fnatic in the semifinals. sOAZ later joined Fnatic and played for the organization for almost seven years in total. sOAZ ended his career on Immortals in the LCS and will likely be entering a coaching role in 2021.

LDLC OL is a French esports organization based in Lyon. The team is playing in the best French league, the LFL, which leads up to the European Masters. The organization has been playing among the best in France for several seasons and is also known for its forays into the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene.

The expected lineup for LDLC OL is looking very strong, with three players who have played in some of the best leagues possible. Only two players are officially signed for the 2021 roster, but this is the complete rumored lineup as of December 2020.
