Impact joins Evil Geniuses roster ahead of LCS 2021 season

Evil Geniuses has announced former Team Liquid star Jeong “Impact” Eon-young as its starting top laner for 2021.

Evil Geniuses finalized its 2021 roster with the addition of Impact to the squad. Impact is joining returning members Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen and Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro. The team also signed former FlyQuest support Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun, who will be laning with Matthew “Deftly” Chen, who was recently promoted from the academy level.

Evil Geniuses’ masterplan is shaping up with a roster that right off the bat looks promising. Evil Geniuses entered the LCS ahead of 2020 when it acquired Echo Fox’s slot. In the spring, Evil Geniuses finished in third place.

The team struggled in the summer to put together a roster that worked. The constant mid-season swaps affected the overall synergy and performance of the tea,. In summer, EG finished fifth. Those results weren’t enough to qualify for the 2020 World Championship, so the season ended early for the team.

Evil Geniuses builds around Svenskeren

The organization made clear its intention to build a roster around jungler Svenskeren. To do this, the team had to secure a playmaking support and a top laner that can play weak side of the map. IgNar and Impact can fill those roles to perfection.

Jiizuke is a solid player and there’s no reason for him to struggle in 2021. All eyes are now on Deftly as he makes his big return to the LCS. Considering the players around him, Deftly just needs to be competent at his job and not become a drain for the team.

Based on the offseason, the meta for spring is likely to be a tank meta, which is perfect for Impact and what his new team at EG is trying to achieve.

Of all the newly finalized rosters, EG probably could prove to be the most consistent. Overall, things are looking good for Evil Geniuses in 2021.
