Vitality players surge forward in latest CSGO player rankings
Ranking Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players is much tougher than ranking a team's performances, but two of Team Vitality's members have shown up time and time again and in doing so have impressed our algorithm. Both Dan "apEX" Madesclaire and Cédric "RpK" Guipouy made CSGO's top players list after several phenomenal performances over the past two weeks.
Both players have been fixtures in CSGO's professional scene for years and have had surpirsing return to form over the past several tournaments. At times, they've even outperformed Vitality's star player Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut despite his own position on CSGO's top ten.
Two key Astralis players fall as Magisk picks up the slack
Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander's fall down the rankings came with an annoucnement that he had retaken the in-game leadership role for Astralis, something that usually comes with a dip in performance for the leader. Keeping track of four other players is much more difficult than just one, but gla1ve's performances can bounce back after he becomes comfortable in his role once more.
And yeah its true that I am back as the IGL, but its pretty easy to be IGL when my team is killing it 🔥— Lukas Rossander (@gla1ve_csgo) December 2, 2020
It was nice of Magisk to take over the role for a while, now he can go make edshot ♥️
gla1ve's drop came with a jump from teammate and former in-game leader Emil "Magisk" Reif as Magisk returned to his rifling role. Astralis still retained its spot as the number one team in the world, but one more member of the Danish superteam saw a dip in his performances with gla1ve's move back to IGL. Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth saw a drop this week thanks in part to Magisk's improved performance.
Vitality's oldest stars apEX and RPK impress as Vitality keeps top ranking
Two of CSGO's oldest players have been doing some impressive work on behalf of Vitality. RpK continued his impressive streak as one of CSGO's best pistol players, while apEX has defied convention and thrived as one of Vitality's oldest players. Add on top the fact that apEX is has taken over as Vitality's in-game leader and that makes his placement at number 9 on the list even more impressive.
Meanwhile, Nikola "niKo" Kovač has come alive after his transfer to G2 and taken the top ranking this week. Players won't be surprised by his sudden move upward, especially since niKo is already recognized as one of the best players in the game. But so far he has completely dominated G2's matchups, even if that dominance hasn't ended up with G2 winning matches.
niKo has always been a top talent, and he should continue to be one moving forward.
