Team Secret has announced that it has parted ways with its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster. The organization, best known for its Dota 2 team, acquired the then up-and-coming team m1x a year ago.

Though promising on paper, the team severely underperformed while playing under the Secret banner. Frequent roster changes, lackluster placements, and ongoing travel issues are just some of the reasons that have sealed the teams’ fate.

“It’s been a journey with many bright spots, but unfortunately we say thank you and farewell to our CS:GO roster. For the past year, we fielded a team loaded with talent and potential, but couldn’t quite push past the final stretches of competition,” Team Secret stated on the team’s official Twitter account.

Frequent roster changes resulted in Secret never actually managing to crack the top 30 in HLTV’s CSGO rankings. After a poor start to 2020, the team benched Rigon “rigoN” Gashi and Filip “tudsoN” Tudev in favor of veteran Danish in-game leader Martin “PERCY” Wessel. The roster change seemingly paid off at first, as just a couple of days later Secret landed its best placement, finishing as the runner-up in a HomeSweetHome competition.

Despite a good showing at HomeSweetHome, Secret never replicated that success later, and the team’s situation looked even more dire after the departure of Flatron “juanflatroo” Halimi. After a couple of months of hovering on the fringes of open qualifiers, the organization decided to part ways with the team.

The team’s main AWPer and arguably Israel’s best CSGO player, Guy “anarkez” Trachtman, shed some light on the decision, stating that a lot of stuff happened behind the scenes that may have led to the teams downfal.

As it stands, it looks as though the former Secret teammates will be going their separate ways. Team Secret on the other hand hasn’t made any statements on whether the organization will remain involved in CSGO.
