XSet has signed an all-female squad to mark their entry into the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive esports scene. The new lineup will wear XSet's jerseys to compete against top-tier male teams.
While many brands venture into the CS scene with big-budget male rosters, XSet has decided to dip their toes in CS esports with a lineup consisting of veteran female players. The organization has chosen Originem's former roster to represent them not only in female tournaments, but also in top-tier male-dominated events as well.
Former FaZe Clan executives formed XSet with an aim to build a new brand that is more diverse and inclusive. XSet is now a well-established organization with rosters in Fortnite, Warzone, Valorant, and Rocket League. But their recent move proves that it is actively working towards the attainment of its initial goal. The all-female roster will be the XSet's main lineup in upcoming CS:GO tournaments, including DreamHack Open 2020.
XSet's female roster gears up to play against top male teams
XSet's CSGO quintet is currently reigning over the female esports ecosystem. Juliano and the girls have proven their unparalleled skills by lifting trophies in almost every female tournament including Ambush Invitational and the Galaxy Racer Invitational. However, this time the team will have to go even further to compete with teams at the top level.
XSet's new roster has limited experience against prominent CSGO teams. Juliano and squad in Besiktas have previously competed in DreamHack Open Rotterdam 2019. However, the results were rather anticlimactic as Besiktas were eliminated early after losing against AVANGAR and Hard Legion. Despite that, the women refuse to give.
"At DreamHack Rotterdam, we went to compete against the male squads. We had some good games, but we didn't win anything. If you play against the best, you'll get better," Anastasia "kr4sy" Khlobystina said.
Female CS scene has grown exponentially in the past few years. This effort by XSet should help bridge the gap between male and female CSGO and pave a way to make major tournaments more diverse and welcoming for women.
Originem's former roster will compete in XSet's jerseys for the first time in DreamHack Open December. They will be up against teams like Saw and Movistar Riders. The quintet will round off the year with Dreamhack Winter Showdown.
