Latest Overwatch patch makes Paris live, changes damage orders
A new Overwatch patch is now live across all platforms. Patch 1.33 officially introduces the new assault map set in Paris.
There are also some minor changes to the order that various health types take damage when more than one type of damage is applied to a hero.
The new map follows the same style as other 2CP maps such as Temple of Anubis and Hanamura. Attackers begin in the Moulin Rouge-inspired Luna Cabaret, where they are treated to a vocal performance from an omnic character on stage. In the defenders’ spawn room, players are treated to a fully functioning piano to play with.
The rest of the map showcases some highlights of the city, enabling players to explore the famous capital while battling for control of the capture points. The first point offers a view of the famous Eiffel Tower from across the River Seine. The second capture point sits in the courtyard of an extravagant palace, which includes the defenders’ spawn room.
The only other big update with this patch was the change to the order in which different types of health are affected by damage. In the new patch, non-recoverable health will be removed by damage first. This means that any bonus health given that’s in addition to a heroes base level will be removed before their own health numbers are touched.
Previously, the order was based on whether damaged was applied to armor, shields, or standard health. This could cause bonus armor in particular to persist for longer periods of time.
Alongside the two main updates were a number of general bug fixes and the removal of the Lunar New Year event.
Although Paris has been on the PTR for PC users since 30 January, this will be the first time that console users will have access to the map.
