Puppey, YapzOr fall as Team Liquid rises in Dota 2 player rankings
After a lull during the roster shuffle period, Dota 2 competitions are back in full swing. Europe had all its top teams competing at ESL One Germany, China is back with the CDA-FDC Pro Championship, and Dota Summit 13 has both Southeast Asia and the Americas back in action.
That has made for some major shifts over the last two weeks, with every spot outside the top three changing. Here is the updated Dota 2 player rankings:
Puppey, YapzOr plunge out of top 10 after ESL One Germany
ESL One Germany had a number of shocking outcomes, with Team Secret suffering an early elimination and Team Liquid winning the event in impressive fashion. Naturally, both teams saw players shift around as a result.
The biggest change is Clement “Puppey” Ivanov and Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat plunging straight out of the top 10 from the No. 6 and 4 positions, respectively. It’s a particularly brutal swing for YapzOr, who debuted as the top-ranked player in Dota 2 and dropped to fourth in the last installment of the rankings.
Neither man finds himself too far from the top 10, with YapzOr at 11 and Puppey at 14. A strong performance in Epic League would likely see both men reestablish themselves.
miCKe, qojqva make enormous jump with Team Liquid victory
A big part of Puppey and YapzOr getting forced out of the top 10 was Team Liquid’s Max "qojqva" Bröcker and Michael "miCKe" Vu jumping up the rankings. Both players were actually outside the top 20 when the rankings were last calculated, but rocketed into the top 10 thanks to the first-place finish in ESL One Germany.
Whether they can stay there for any length of time is a big question. While the top five are all in a fairly secure position at the moment, almost anyone in the top 30 could hypothetically jump into the top 10 with a strong performance in a tournament. Liquid will need to maintain this form if its members wants to hold onto these spots.
Vici Gaming, PSG.LGD players climbing
The first two installments of the rankings saw China be under-represented due to the region being in the middle of an extended shuffle and break from competition. Thanks to OGA Dota PIT Season 3 and the CDA-FDC Professional Championship, the region is back in action and players are climbing their way up.
As with October, Vici Gaming's Ren "eLeVeN" Yangwei and PSG.LGD's Wang "Ame" Chunyu are sitting at the top of the Chinese pack. Past that, Zeng "Ori" Jiaoyang is just outside the top 10 and Zhang "Faith_bian" Ruida is inside the top 20. As the season progresses, Chinese players are likely to have a slow climb to the top, and it will be interesting to see how things shape up in the competitive region.
