Pokimane has limited donation amounts for her fans on Twitch
Imane "Pokimane" Anys is in the spotlight again, but this time it's not over something controversial.
Ever since Pokimane has come back from her month-long break, she's been ridiculed by some for possibly lying about having a boyfriend and for making insensitive jokes. But through it all, Pokimane continued to gain subscribers by playing Among Us with other big-name streamers on Twitch.
Now, Pokimane is in the headlines again. But this time, the streaming community has a much more positive reaction overall.
On a stream earlier today, Pokimane announced that she worked with Streamlabs to create a custom donation cap of $5.
"I really want to thank you guys for supporting me when I was in high school and when I was $20,000 in debt at university, to the very, very lucky place I am at today," Pokimane told her fans.
Pokimane has a donation cap of $5
Pokimane has often been ridiculed for her "army of simps," or rather men who continuously donate large amounts of money to the streamer in hopes of getting her attention. Many have stated that Pokimane "takes advantage" of her male fans. Some have even called her out for allowing donations from men who openly admit to being in financial strife, although others have pointed out that it's impossible for her to know every single donors' personal struggles.
"Just because I stream on Twitch doesn't mean I 'exploit lonely men for money.' If you have any evidence of me doing so then please say so. I don't create personal relationships with my donors. Nor do I exchange anything for money but a 'thank you,'" Pokimane replied in a since-deleted tweet.
Even so, Pokimane's donation cap of $5 will stop fans from sending her large sums of money at once. This led to a lot of praise from the streaming community, who noted that it will stop viewers from thinking they must donate more money to get more attention.
Still, others noted that donors will just send multiple $5 donations instead. While this might be true, this is not something Pokimane has any control over. Either way, she was applauded for potentially limiting one of her revenue streams.

Thank you for supporting me to the point where I consider anything more than that unnecessary. To anyone that was more generous- please support growing channels, charities, and treat yourselves.❤️😊 pic.twitter.com/QhrusbDFxD
Pokimane's net worth is said to be between $1 million and $2 million. She recently opened up about how much she spends on creating and producing content for her fans, which averaged about $20,000 a month. It's too early to know if the donation cap will affect her income in a meaningful way.
