Here's how to make a new jump throw bind in CSGO
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's best smokes are often the hardest ones to throw, but a jump throw bind makes them much easier.
Jumpthrow binds are probably the most complicated bind to make in CSGO, but a few additions to a player's autoexec.cfg file make them that much easier. The problem is that jumpthrows aren't just one command. They use several commands grouped together under what CSGO's engine calls an alias. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as binding the keys in CSGO's menu or through the console. Aliases are erased when a user closes the game, which means that unless they're put inside a player's autoexec file, the commands have to be entered every single time.
Players can get around that by using their autoexec, a file that loads after CSGO binds all of the usual keys. Here's the actual string of commands that need to be entered:
-
alias "+jumpthrow" "+jump;-attack"; alias "-jumpthrow" "-jump"; bind KEYHERE "+jumpthrow"
The quotes are very important here, so don't forget any of them!
Players can replace KEYHERE with any key want. By placing this line inside the autoexec.cfg file, CSGO will load the string of commands every time a player loads the game, eliminating the need to enter it into the console each time a player starts up CSGO.
The most common jumpthrow on Mirage is one of A site's best smokes
The best example of where a jumpthrow bind can make a player's life much easier is when throwing the smoke that blocks of CT spawn on Mirage. The smoke is an essential part of the A take, blocking off an AWPers positioned at ticket or forcing them to move forward into the site for an easy attacking pick. Just note that players have to pull the pin and hold down the throw button before they press their jumpthrow bind, otherwise it won't work.
Line up just outside A ramp at the center of the grate below.
Turn left, and place the crosshair at the bottom corner on the platform. Once all set up, wait for the early CT smoke to fade and throw just after any teammates throw the stairs or jungle smokes. Since those have a few more bounces, waiting a second makes sure all the smokes bloom at the same time. Pressing the jumpthrow key will make the player character jump and release at the same time, creating the perfect smoke for CT spawn.
Since the timing between jumping and releasing the grenade are both important for making the smoke land where it is supposed to, the jumpthrow command makes this normally difficult grenade very easy to pull off.
It's useful on a wide variety of maps, and the bind is completely legal, even in tournament play. If only getting a teammate to throw the jungle smoke correctly was this easy.
