Gen.G takes down Sentinels, dominates First Strike NA qualifiers
Gen.G shocked the Valorant community and defeated Sentinels in a one-sided quarterfinals match.
After the 2-0 sweep, Gen.G is moving to the semifinals. First-seed team Sentinels was knocked out of the tournament. They must next compete in the UMG qualifiers.
Nobody expected Gen.G to take down Sentinels. The eight-seed team took down Serenity and XSET, but fans weren't as confident in how the team would fair against Jay "sinatraa" Won and his crew. sinatraa showed off his insane skills in the Pop Flash Ignition Series, so it was quite shocking to see his tactics fail so miserably here.
"Oof unlucky," Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan said. "Sloppy day from us."
Gen.G upsets Sentinels in First Strike NA qualifier
Sentinels' fans rallied around the disappointed players, saying they were smartly "saving starts" for later. Many felt they hadn't tried their best. Other Valorant players questioned this excuse, saying it didn't make sense for them not to directly qualify for the main tournament. Even though they didn't make the top four, it still seems likely that the Sentinels will be back in form later in the competition.
On the other end, Gen.G was looking both impressive and aggressive. Their teamwork was on point and they were quick to act on Sentinels' mistakes. Even though Sentinels had an early lead on the second map, Gen.G was unstoppable once they charged back ahead.
Gen.G is next playing against Envy in the semifinals, and it's looking like the squad is out for blood.
