Gamsu retires from Overwatch, plans return to League of Legends

Yeong-Jin "Gamsu" Noh, who most recently played for the Dallas Fuel in the Overwatch League, is returning to League of Legends.

Before his days in the OWL, Gamsu was a top laner for Fnatic in LoL. He last played competitive LoL in 2016 with Fnatic and found some success with the team, most notably finishing second place in IEM Katowice behind SK Telecom T1.

Prior to OWL's first season, Gamsu had a contract offer from the Boston Uprising as a main tank. He then went on to play for the Shanghai Dragons in Season Two, and finally for the Fuel in Season Three. Dallas underwent a significant roster shakeup from there and dropped Gamsu. Instead of hunting for a new gig in OWL, the Korean is taking this opportunity to return to competitive LoL.

This news comes in the middle of the 2020 League of Legends World Champsionship, which runs from September 25 to October 31. It is good timing for Gamsu to reenter the LoL competitive scene, as he can step into the free agency pool ahead of the 2021 pre-season shuffle.

Gamsu leaves OWL, plans to return to competitive LoL

In OWL, Gamsu has been a fan favorite since his time with the Uprising. His two animals, a dog named Uni and a cat named Bada, have garnered Gamsu positive attention from fans of all teams, and his outward personality and friendly interactions with fans gave him a strong reputation.

Fans are glad to see him make the switch, and many wonder if he'll easily be able to return to the competitive scene. Since he hasn't been in the LoL spotlight, it is unclear whether he is still highly ranked on the ladder. His performance across his career in LoL is described by most fans as so-so, but with four years since his last appearance in professional LoL, anything could happen.
