Deficio will be the new director of Misfits Gaming Europe

Misfits Gaming Group (MGG) recently announced that Martin “Deficio” Lynge will be its new director of Misfits Gaming Europe.

The former League of Legends color casters and general manager for Origen will be responsible for strategic growth and development of the LoL department at Misfits. He will also be responsible for identifying future opportunities for the EU team, according to the organization.

“We’re excited to bring Martin’s knowledge and unique experiences as a coach, manager, player and broadcaster to our European team in Berlin,” CEO and co-founder of Misfit Gaming Group Ben Spoont said.

It hasn't been many weeks since Deficio announced that he will no longer be the general manager of Origen, who on the same day announced its rebranding to Astralis. Deficio was responsible for building the Origen roster when it re-entered the LEC for the 2019 season.

Before his time in Origen, Deficio was a well-known caster for the EU LCS, which is now known as the LEC. Deficio entered the world of casting after years as a professional player, where he played under teams such as Copenhagen Wolves and Ninjas in Pyjamas

Many fans of the LEC have hoped to see Deficio make his return to the casting desk, but he will instead continue his work with LEC teams. Deficio is a man with a lot of experience through playing, casting, and working behind the scenes. According to Deficio, there is already a lot of work going on behind the scenes at Misfits.

“I’m excited to start the next chapter with Misfits Gaming,” Deficio said in the announcement. “I spent the past two years focusing on building and maintaining a strong team environment for both players and staff with Origen and I’m looking forward to shaping the future of Misfits Gaming.

Misfits is looking to bounce back in the LEC in 2021

With Deficio on the team, Misfits will be looking to bounce back after a poor showing in 2020. The team managed to qualify for the 2020 LEC Spring Split playoffs but fell short against Rogue in the first round. The summer split went worse for Misfits, finishing the regular split as number eight and didn’t have a shot at qualifying for the 2020 World Championship

Misfits still has some talented young players that can turn into stars under the right guidance, but it’s likely that there will be changes in the roster for the 2021 season. Fans are already speculating that mid laner Fabian “FEBIVEN” Diepstraten and top laner Danny “Dan Dan” Comte will be off the team, but nothing is confirmed yet.

Misfits will be back on Summoner’s Rift when LEC kicks off at the start of next year.
