Former Griffin jungler Lee “Tarzan” Seung-Yong announced on social media that he will be playing in the LPL starting next season.

Tarzan has been taking a break from competitive League of Legends since May 2020 following a turbulent time on Griffin. He was a key part of Griffin’s successful run in 2019, where the team managed to perform among the best in the LCK and make it all the way to Worlds.

His time on Griffin ended after the team was relegated from the LCK after the 2020 LCK Spring Split. The team had gone through a rough patch following allegations by players of physical and mental abuse by former coach Kim “cvMax” Dae-ho. With Griffin relegated to the Korean challenger league, Tarzan was without a team and didn’t get picked up for the summer split.

Instead, Tarzan has been taking a break and been focusing on streaming.

“During my break, I was able to spend time with not only my family and friends but with my fans through the twitch streams,” Tarzan said in his statement. “Though it may not seem like it, I am very thankful to all the people who has come by and engaged in my streams.”

After sitting out for a time, the Korean star is now ready to take on new challenges. The next chapter for him will be in the LPL, where he will be joining a team that is not yet announced.

“To take on a new challenge and improve myself, I have decided to play in the LPL league from 2021,” Tarzan said.

Where could Tarzan end up in the LPL?

With two second-place finishes in the LCK and a Worlds quarterfinal in the bag, Tarzan is an experienced jungler despite his young age of 21. He is still known for his great mechanics and aggressive playstyle, which should make him a good fit for the LPL.

Tarzan would be an upgrade for several teams, but it is hard to say where he will end up. He has been rumored to join LNG Esports, Edward Gaming, and even 2018 World Championship winners Invictus Gaming. The rumors are legion within the LPL community, but at this point it seems Tarzan could end up anywhere.

Tarzan has not announced when he will reveal his new team, but it should be in the very near future or right after the 2020 World Championship has been concluded.
