It was a delight for many fans and players alike when the LPL announced that over 6,000 people will be able to attend the 2020 League of Legends World Championship final live at the Pudong Football Stadium in Shanghai.

This year’s Worlds event has been entirely played from a studio in Shanghai without any crowd in attendance, but the big final will luckily be different. Riot Games is sticking to the original plan of hosting the finals show at the new Pudong Football Stadium, which has a capacity of around 33,000 people.

Due to ongoing circumstances around the glboe, it won’t be possible to fill up the arena. Instead, event organizers will have 6,312 lucky fans attend, according to Riot. The seats for the final will be given out for free to those fortunate fans who win them through a lottery program designed by Riot.

Worlds 2020 finals tickets to be delivered through lottery

To enter the lottery, one must sign up with an ID and have a level 30 Tencent server league account. All participants will also need a Chinese phone number. Fans have from October 12 to October 14 to enter, but due to the sign-up requirements, it’s very unlikely that foreigners will be able to attend the Worlds 2020 finals live.

Those lucky fans that win a seat will have to pay a deposit that will, later on, be reimbursed. If fans don’t attend the event, this deposit will be donated to charity. A face recognition system will be checking attendees to prevent seats from being sold to others. Riot is making sure that only the winner of each seat will be able to use the invite.

Besides preventing tickets from being sold in the secondary market at a high price, Riot is also following a number of safety precautions. The seats will be arranged such that no one in attendance will sit right next to each other. The Shanghai government will help guide Riot throughout the event’s live production to prevent any possible risks.
