Fnatic lost the first-place decider at the 2020 League of Legends World Championship group stage against Gen.G but the team is still ready for the knock-out stage.

Despite a very competitive group, Fnatic is ready for the Worlds quarterfinals after playing impressive League of Legends throughout the whole group stage. The European squad will be the second LEC team in the quarterfinals, but might actually be considered the strongest LEC team after their great showing.

Fnatic looking more dominant than G2 Esports at Worlds 2020

Fnatic has been performing so well that they should be considered the strongest LEC team going forward. Even though G2 Esports managed to dominate Fnatic in the 2020 LEC Summer Split final, it looks to be Fnatic that has improved the most throughout this year’s Worlds.

Taking games off of Gen.G, LGD Gaming, and TeamSoloMid has opened fans and experts’ eyes to Fnatic. Meanwhile, G2 dropped a game to Team Liquid and looked shaky in a way that could potentially hurt them moving forward. Fnatic failed in the deciding game against Gen.G but has mostly been playing confident and coordinated besides that.

It’s hard to say which European team will succeed the most in the quarterfinals, as both have time to improve before the matches. With that said, Fnatic is looking like as good of a bet for a deep run at the tournament as G2.

Fnatic is playing as a unit at Worlds 2020

Fnatic has shown that they can play very well as a unit which should currently be considered their biggest strength. In their second match against LGD, Fnatic pulled off one world-class fight after the other, resulting in a convincing victory.

Jungler Oskar “Selfmade” Boderek has been stepping up at his first international event, in a meta that suits him perfectly. Meanwhile, Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek has been exceeding expectations in the mid lane which has been crucial in some of the wins.

Can Fnatic threaten the Worlds 2020 tournament favorites?

Unfortunately for Fnatic, they didn’t manage to top group C which can end up biting them. Qualifying for the quarterfinals as a second seed means that they have the chance of running into teams such as DAMWON Gaming and Top Esports if they continue to deliver.

Fnatic will probably be the underdog for its quarterfinals but have shown a level of play that other teams should fear as well. Fnatic is an experienced line-up that might help them out. While the first-seeded teams are very skilled, they are also fairly young and could crumble under the pressure.

Fnatic is likely hoping to draw Suning as its opponent in the quarterfinals, a matchup that the team will have a fair chance of winning.
