The 2021 preseason changes are ready to hit the Public Beta Environment and Riot Games has revealed a complete breakdown of the new item overhaul.

Riot has been teasing League of Legends fans with changes throughout the past few months, talking about the upcoming item changes while giving a few sneak peeks.

The changes have been discussed in five different developer blogs and the sixth is a major breakdown of some of the biggest changes, mainly centering around the new Mythic and Legendary items.

The dev post included a long list of new items, so let’s take a look at some of the most interesting ones. Note that some items are still a work in progress and could likely change over the next six weeks on the PBE.

Mythic items for 2021 LoL preseason

Mythic items will be the newest item additions to the game and will also become the most important items. Mythic items will be limited to one per build and will help define a build and playstyle. Therefore, the 22 Mythic items will be the most impactful items in the game.

There will be Mythic items added for each class, such as Marksman Mythics, Tank Mythics, Mage Mythics, etc.

Kraken Slayer (marksman)

  • 3400 gold
  • +60 attack damage
  • +25% attack speed
  • +20% critical strike chance

Harpoon: Every third Attack is enhanced, dealing an additional true damage

Mythic Passive: Grants all other Legendary items +10% Attack Speed.

Kraken Slayer will be the perfect anti-tank item for marksmen. The item will provide some useful stats such as attack damage and attack speed, while its passive will deal true damage for every third attack.

The item will be a scary tank shredder, which will likely be built by marksmen who are playing against a strong frontline.

Sunfire Aegis (tank)

  • 3200 gold
  • +450 health
  • +30 armor
  • +30 magic resist
  • +15 ability haste

Immolate: Deal magic damage per second to nearby enemies. Damaging enemy champions or epic monsters adds a stack, increasing Immolate damage for five seconds.

Radiance: At max stacks, basic attacks explode around you, burning nearby enemies for your Immolate damage for 3 seconds.

Mythic Passive: Grants all other legendary items +5 Ability Haste.

Sunfire Aegis will take the original Sunfire Cape passive and make it even stronger. The item will allow tanks to waveclear much more efficiently while getting all necessary stats to be tanky.

The item might interfere with champions who want to freeze lanes, as the passive will automatically kill surrounding minions.

Duskblade of Draktharr (ad assassin)

  • 3200 gold
  • +55 attack damage
  • +18 lethality
  • +25 ability haste

Dusk: Attacking an enemy champion deals additional physical damage and slows. When a champion you have damaged within the last three seconds is killed, reset this cooldown and gain invisibility for 1.5 seconds.

Mythic Passive: Grants all other legendary items +5 ability haste.

AD assassins will get a few different Mythic item options and one of them is the new Duskblade of Draktharr. The item will allow players to gain invisibility through resets, which could be scary in the hands of a fed Kha’Zix, Zed, or others.

New Legendary items added in 2021 LoL preseason

If the new Mythic items weren’t enough, Riot is also treating players with a list of new Legendary items. The existing Legendary items will be updated, while some will be completely removed.

The removed items include well-known items such as Frozen Mallet, Hextech Gunblade, Statikk Shiv, and others. According to Riot, these items had effects that were too far off the mark to salvage.

The new legendary items include a lot of new effects, while Force of Nature will make its return to the game.

Force of Nature

  • 2900 gold
  • +350 health
  • +55 magic resist
  • +7% move speed

Rhythm of Ionia: Taking ability damage grants move speed and magic resist for five seconds. This stacks up to five times.

Navori Quickblade

  • 3400 gold
  • +60 attack damage
  • +20% critical strike chance
  • +30 ability haste

Nimble Strikes: Critical strikes with attacks reduce non-ultimate ability cooldowns by 20% of their remaining cooldown.

The complete item overhaul is expected to hit the PBE very soon, where it will be available for testing for six weeks.
