The Danish mid laner achieved MVP status after two splits where teammate Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski took the award. This is the third time Caps has won most valuable player of the split, the other two came in LEC Spring 2019 and LEC Summer 2018.
The award was handed to him during the LEC Finals pre-show, where the broadcast presented an MVP video, followed up with an interview. The video showcased some of Caps’ best plays throughout the split, though many were left on the cutting room floor because of how strong he was all split.
Caps carried G2 Esports through the 2020 LEC Summer Split
Even though G2 has been shaky throughout the split, Caps has been consistent. The star mid laner carried several games on his own, which would have been lost without his efforts.
He had a shaky spring after he swapped to the bot lane position, while Luka “Perkz” Perković took over in the mid lane. Even though G2 won the split, team management decided that Caps was best off carrying in the mid lane.
Caps is tied with Emil “Larssen” Larsson for most kills throughout the regular split at 86 kills, while his damage share on the team was at 29.4%.
Once again, Caps will be looking to prove himself as one of the best mid laner in the world at the 2020 League of Legends World Championship. Last year, G2 won the Mid-Season Invitational and got all the way to the finals at Worlds. If G2 wants to repeat that success on the international stage, Caps will have to keep his form.
