Doublelift speaks out on rivalry with Team Liquid ADC Tactical

Former Team Liquid bot laner Yiliand “Doublelift” Peng spoke out on his rivalry with current Liquid bot laner Edward “Tactical” Ra.

Doublelift and Tactical have been on many people's minds throughout the year, after competing for the starting bot lane spot in Team Liquid during the 2020 LCS Spring Split. Despite the rivalry, there is no bad blood between them, according to Doublelift.

During a recent stream, Doublelift addressed speculation about him and Tactical, and mentioned that he never had anything against Tactical. The narrative has been created through speculation in the community, after Tactical got the starting position in Liquid, which Doublelift had occupied for over two years.

“I don’t think I’ve ever said anything bad about him. He was always really nice to me and a really positive guy,” Doublelift said on his stream. “He plays well, he's got a great attitude, and he works hard,”

Doublelift has been known to be a bit hard towards his direct competitors in the LCS, but this split has been different. We have seen a much more humble Doublelift, talking highly about other bot laners such as Tactical and Golden Guardians’ FBI. This comes after years during which the veteran bot laner felt that he was never challenged individually in the bottom lane, but it finally seems like young players are stepping up.

Is Tactical better than Doublelift?

Doublelift has had a turbulent year. The spring split was rough after placing ninth, something that we haven’t seen from Liquid since 2017. During the summer split, Doublelift has started to return to form on Team SoloMid, but there is still some way to go.

His stats during the regular summer split are nothing to write home about, but he has still been delivering on a fairly consistent level. His damage per minute is the fifth-best among LCS bot laners, at 501 damage.

Tactical has been able to find a bit more success. After playing full-time on Liquid, he has been awarded with the Rookie of the Year award and had the third-best KDA among bot laners. He also ended the regular summer split with the fourth-highest damage per minute among all players in the league.
