The International 10 breaks prize pool record set by TI9

The International 10’s prize pool has been growing at an unprecedented rate since the launch of the TI10 Battle Pass, and it has hit yet another major milestone. The TI10 prize pool has officially cleared the $34,330,068 mark, which was the final prize pool amount for The International 2019. 

With that, The International 10 now has the largest prize pool in esports history.

The news comes as little surprise to Dota 2 fans. The TI10 Battle Pass has been a smashing success for Valve, outpacing the revenue generated by the TI9 Battle Pass from the very start. 

Dota 2 fans responded very well to the TI9 Battle Pass’ increased focus on high-quality and limited edition skins. The TI10 Battle Pass took that a step further by offering players five exclusive skins including three arcanas and two hero personas, including the One True King arcana for Wraith King which was made available at launch. All of the new content resulted in an explosive start to the battle pass, but Valve also doubled down on some of the other things that worked last year.

Two Collector’s Cache treasures were made available during the TI10 Battle Pass, with both releases adding a lot to the prize pool. In a major change, fans were given the chance to buy two level bundles instead of one. This alone added an influx of over $7 million to the prize pool.

It’s still up for debate where the TI10 prize pool will ultimately land, but odds are that the prize pool will approach the $40 million mark. 

Four of the premium skins have already been launched for the TI10 Battle Pass, but the top prize, Windranger’s Compass of the Rising Gale arcana, is still yet to officially launch. Alongside this, the Immortal Treasure 3 is set to launch and will likely include a number of highly sought-after skins.
