Shroud returns to Twitch streaming after Mixer's demise

Michael "shroud" Grzesiek is coming home to the streaming platform that kickstarted his career as an entertainer, according to a post from the streamer's official Twitter account.

After leaving fans in the dark for nearly a month following the closure of Mixer, Shroud announced his return to Twitch alongside the sort of well-produced video that his fans have come to know him for.

shroud signed a reported multi-million dollar deal with Microsoft streaming platform Mixer alongside fellow streamer Tyler "Ninja" Blevins in late 2019. Microsoft then shuttered Mixer in July 2020, leaving all of its partnered streamers without a home. But reports indicated that contracts to shroud and Ninja were still paid out, meaning that both streamers made quite a bit of money for what turned out to be only a brief foray beyond Twitch.

Facebook Gaming reportedly offered both shroud and Ninja similar deals as to the one's between the streamers and Microsoft after Mixer's demise, but it seems as though neither was interested in the offer.

shroud announces Twitch streaming return

The streamer's announcement comes after fan speculation over where the popular streamer might end up continuing his career. Besides Twitch, YouTube's own game streaming service, YouTube Gaming, was rumored as an alternative landing spot for the ex-CSGO pro. Rumors have persisted that Ninja is headed to YouTube Gaming, as has banned Twitch streamer Guy "Dr Disrespect" Beahm. But shroud will return to Twitch.

Twitch chimed in to welcome shroud back to the platform where he got his streaming start after a successful career as a professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player.

When shroud returns to the platform for his first stream back, it will have been nearly ten months since his fans saw him on the Amazon-owned streaming service. While the tweet didn't give fans an exact date or time of his return, Shroud's Twitch URL was prominently featured in a highlight montage that included popular games such as Valorant, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, and Call of Duty, among others.

With the intense tones of "There's Only One King" by Tommee Profitt blaring in the background, it seems that Twitch's wayward son has returned home.
