PowerOfEvil explains why FlyQuest won’t scrim Cloud9 during LCS

Recent rumors have offered that LCS teams FlyQuest and Team SoloMid have recently refused to scrim Cloud9, and now we might finally have an explanation as to why.

The scrim rumors began after Cloud9 bot laner Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen mentioned in an interview that both FlyQuest and TSM would no longer scrim with him and the rest of Cloud9. The comment ignited conspiracy discussion on social media, with many fans claiming that the teams were shooting themselves in the foot by not scrimming the presumed best team in the LCS in C9.

After more than a week, Flyquest mid laner Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage finally addressed the controversy in an interview. The FlyQuest mid laner confirmed that his team is not scrimming Cloud9 because they want to save their strategies for the 2020 LCS Summer Split playoffs. Both FlyQuest and Cloud9 have secured a spot in the upcoming playoff, meaning that they could meet in a best-of-five series.

“We decided not to scrim C9 anymore to not reveal any strategies for the playoffs run,” PowerOfEvil said.

FlyQuest saving strats for 2020 LCS Summer Split playoffs

It might seem strange that FlyQuest is choosing not to scrim Cloud9 while other teams are currently looking stronger. Cloud9 has been in a slump since the middle of the summer split and has now dropped to second place in the league, tied with TSM and trailing Team Liquid. The reason why FlyQuest is more worried about revealing strategies to Cloud9 is that PowerrOfEvil and his teammates have been struggling the most against C9.

FlyQuest has a good record against both TSM and Team Liquid but has lost twice to Cloud9 in the current split. This explains why FlyQuest is more worried about Cloud9 in the playoffs, even though C9 may no longer be the most dangerous opponent on paper.

The 2020 LCS Summer Split playoffs will begin on August 13. It is unknown if FlyQuest and Cloud9 will run into each other during the bracket, but if both teams manage to win, such a meeting would be inevitable.
