CLG reportedly benches Pobelter during 2020 LCS Summer Split

Counter Logic Gaming mid laner Eugene “Pobelter” Park will be benched from the LCS roster in week 9 of the 2020 LCS Summer Split, according to streamer and former professional player Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera.

The swap will mean that CLG Academy mid laner Jean-Sébastien “Tuesday” Thery will play in the LCS after playing in the CLG organization for over three years. Tuesday has been in the scene for a long time, but has never managed to break through onto the big stage. While Tuesday is not considered one of the best players in the academy league, he has still earned his chance with several carry performances through his large champion pool.

Even though CLG has been struggling in the LCS, it’s not necessarily because Pobelter has been underperforming. In fact, Pobelter has been the sole shining light for the team in many of its games. Pobelter rejoined the team in February, which helped the team secure some great wins in the spring split.

LoL experts and the community alike have expressed skepticism about the roster move. It doesn’t seem like people believe this swap will do CLG much good, and may actually see them sink even lower in the league. CLG started the summer split fairly well, but that strong start didn’t last for long. They are currently on a six-game losing streak, so changes are definitely needed. Fans are unsure however if the mid lane is the right place to make these changes.

CLG is currently struggling to make the playoffs with a poor 5-11 record. It will be do or die for the team in week 9, where they will be battling for the last playoffs spots.
