Babybay joins FaZe Clan's Valorant roster, leaves Overwatch behind
Faze Clan has announced the signing of former Overwatch pro Andrej "babybay" Francisty as the fourth member of its Valorant roster.
Best known for his Overwatch League tenures with the San Francisco Shock and Atlanta Reign, and affectionately nicknamed “The King”, babybay is one of the most renowned and popular players that has switched to Riot Games’s tactical first-person shooter.
The news comes only two days after Faze parted ways with former professional Counter Strike: Global Offensive player Jason "jasonR" Ruchelski.
With most emerging Valorant teams building their rosters around former CSGO players, FaZe is going in a different direction. All of the players on its current roster are former Overwatch players, save for Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen who comes from a CSGO background.
Interestingly, all three former Overwatch players on the FaZe’s roster, including Zachary "ZachaREEE" Lombardo and Corey "Corey" Nigra, are former DPS players.
More Overwatch Players who made the jump to Valorant:
- Sinatraa goes from OWL champ to Valorant pro
- Rawkus leaves the Houston Outlaws
- Corey is one of Babybay's new Valorant teammates
After retiring from Overwatch on July 17th, it was strongly hinted that babybay would be making a switch to Valorant, despite the player leaving his future ambiguous at the time.
New team set for debut in FaZe Clan Valorant Invitational
The former hitscan DPS player has been streaming Valorant lately, but has yet to appear in any Valorant tournaments. Babybay will have a chance to prove himself in the upcoming FaZe Clan Invitational against some stiff competition, including Team SoloMid, Cloud9, T1, and Team Envy.
As he is FaZe’s fourth signing, the North American organization just has one more spot to fill. After trying out a number of players, former Houston Outlaws support Shane "Rawkus" Flaherty is the front-runner for the position, ESPN reports.
Rawkus is no stranger to Faze Clan, as he previously played for the team as a member of its Overwatch roster from August 2016 to October 2017 ahead of the introduction of the Overwatch League.
