TSM has the biggest champion pool among all LCS summer teams

Reading time: 2 min

Team SoloMid is currently the most diverse team in the LCS, and they are now looking to win their first trophy in three years.

It’s been a while since TSM has won a trophy, the last coming to the team in the 2017 LCS Summer Split. The organization has seen many ups and downs during this time, with countless roster swaps back and forth.

The current iteration of TSM seems to be going in the right direction though, bringing back Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng to control the bot lane, accompanied with the talented rookie support Erik “Treatz” Wessén. Treatz was replaced by Vincent “Biofrost” Wang in the middle of the 2020 LCS Summer Split and it seems to be the adjustment that was needed.

TSM is currently tied for second place in the LCS after an impressive win against Cloud9. The team holds the record for most champions picked throughout the split, showcasing their diversity as a team. TSM has played 48 unique champions this split, which is six more than CLG who is currently second on that list.

  1. TSM – 48 champions
  2. CLG – 42 champions
  3. Dignitas – 40 champions
  4. EG – 40 champions
  5. 100 Thieves – 37 champions
  6. C9 – 37 champions
  7. Golden Guardians – 34 champions
  8. Immortals – 32 champions
  9. FlyQuest – 31 champions
  10. Team Liquid – 30 champions

TSM showing great draft diversity in 2020 LCS Summer Split

The diversity comes from almost every role on the team and is led by Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik, who has played 12 unique champions. This is the most unique champions played by any single player in the league.

Doublelift has also shown off his deep champion pool after playing ten different champions. Surprisingly, Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg is the only player on TSM that is not leading his role in champion diversity. Bjergsen is known to have a deep champion pool, but his innovative picks might be saved for later this split or the playoffs.

At the bottom of the list, we find Team Liquid, which is the least diverse team in the LCS despite their great split. TL is currently sitting on a 13-3 record going into week 8, but their play style has been fairly telegraphed throughout the split. The team is still picking up wins with their current strategies and only time will tell if it’s enough when we hit playoffs.
