Former OG Seed, Cloud9 players team up in Omega League qualifiers

A new Scandinavian squad has arrived in Dota 2 and the team is loaded with star power and experience.

The new team, currently called 5men, is made up of former Cloud9 and OG.Seed members, led by veteran captain Rasmus “MISERY” Filipsen.

Most of these players have crossed paths at one point.

Leading the Swedish-Danish mix is Misery, a well-known and respected face in the Dota 2 scene. The Danish veteran has had an admirable career spanning back to DotA Allstars. Having played for a number of top teams in the past including Evil Geniuses, Team Secret, Digital Chaos, and most recently Cloud9, the experience Misery brings to the team is invaluable.

Joining him in 5men are former Cloud 9 teammates Ace and pieliedie. Both Ace and pieliedie should be familiar for fans of pro Dota 2.

Pieliedie’s return to Europe has been a long-awaited one. After parting ways with Team Secret in 2015, pieliedie became a true globetrotter. The Swede has played in North American with Team NP and Forward Gaming, and in southeast Asia together with Mineski and Fnatic.

On the other hand, Ace came into the Dota 2 limelight during his time with Team Secret and Ninjas in Pyjamas. Best known for his micro-intensive picks such as Meepo and Lone Druid, he is one of the more mechanically gifted players on the roster.

Chessie is another Swedish player who honed his craft in the NA scene. He rose to prominence during his multiple stints with Complexity Gaming. Along with Xibbe, he played for OG.Seed before the team was released from the organization and disbanded.

Xibbe is the least experienced of the squad and is a relative newcomer to the professional Dota 2 scene, having his first taste of pro Dota 2 in 2019 with The Final Tribe.

5men’s lineup is looking like a promising mix of veteran experience and young blood, but only time will tell if they can break through in the crowded European Dota 2 scene.

The team is off to a good start after playing their first official match in the OMEGA League: Europe Closed Qualifier, winning over Nikola “LeBronDota” Popović’s stack TEMPO in a dominating fashion.
