Ahead of his launch in patch 10.16, Yone’s abilities have now been revealed and a new anime-themed cinematic featuring the champion has premiered.

Following closely behind Lillia’s release during the Spirit Blossom event, Yone the Unforgotten is set to be unveiled in the game’s next patch. Fans can now see the first glimpses of his kit in a new post on the League of Legends website.

  • Passive – Way of the Hunter

Yone uses two blades, causing every second attack to deal more magic damage. His critical strike chance is also doubled, but his critical strikes deal reduced damage.

  • Q – Mortal Steel

Yone thrusts forward, dealing physical damage to opponents. On hit, he gains a stack of Gathering Storm. At two stacks, Yone can dash forward with a wave that makes enemies airborne.

  • W – Spirit Cleave

Yone cleaves forward in a massive arc, dealing a portion of the target’s maximum health. After successfully hitting an enemy, Yone also gains a temporary shield. The shield’s power increases per champion struck.

  • E – Soul Unbound

Yone can enter his Spirit Form, gaining movement speed and leaving his body behind. When Yone’s Spirit Form expires, he’ll snap back into his body and deal a percentage of all the damage he dealt while in Spirit Form.

  • R – Fate Sealed

Yone strikes all enemies in his path, blinking behind the last enemy hit and knocking everyone airborne towards him.

While no preview of the damage or scaling of any of the abilities has yet been seen, many have already begun to speculate as to whether Yone may be overpowered upon release.

New champion Yone may be headed for mid lane

What can be seen of the new champion’s kit shows great utility.

Way of the Hunter appears to be akin to Yasuo’s Q and E combo all rolled into one, with the dash and knock-up feature present upon the third cast. Spirit Cleave shows similarities to Fiddlesticks’ E, and Soul Unbound has essences of both Zed’s W and R.

Yone’s ultimate, Fate Sealed, looks similar to Malphite’s on first viewing, giving him a long-range dash and knock-up that should easily hit multiple targets when enemies are grouped together.

Also worth noting is the position on Summoner’s Rift that the clips showing his abilities take place. The skills themselves could see the game’s 150th champion in top, jungle, or mid lane depending on their actual damage and scaling numbers.

In the previews released by Riot, all action takes place in the mid lane. This may well be an indication from the developers of their intentions for the champion.

Also revealed on the same day was a new anime-inspired cinematic featuring both Yone and his half-brother Yasuo. The ten-minute video follows the two in a series of fights during their lifetimes, culminating in a joint battle against an elderly man turned humanoid monster.
