Cloud9 assistant coach Jonathan “Westrice” Nguyen said during a recent stream that he rates  Team SoloMid as the second best team in the LCS today.

During the stream, Westrice was asked for his opinion on the current strength between the top LCS teams. Westrice put a lot of emphasis on TSM and their recent player swap in the support position, subbing in Erik “Treatz” Wessén to replace Vincent “Biofrost” Wang.

“I like TSM more. Based on scrims I feel like they have found their identity and what they want to play around. I think Treatz is a huge upgrade over Biofrost. He has been smurfing in Academy for so long and has been slept on,” Westrice said

Westrice continued explaining how he is surprised that Biofrost was picked as the starting support for TSM, while Treatz has been performing at such a high level in academy games. According to Westrice, TSM with Treatz “makes them a second place team” in the LCS.

Later on, Westrice was asked for his input on the three LCS World Championship spots. Without hesitation, he answered that Cloud9, Team Liquid, and TSM will most likely take the three spots available for the region.

Westrice doesn’t see FlyQuest repeating spring LCS success in the summer

One team that has exceeded expectations this year is FlyQuest, but Westrice pointed out that he thinks FlyQuest is “losing it” despite being creative, which is why he doesn’t expect them to qualify for Worlds this year.

FlyQuest surprised fans and players alike in the 2020 LCS Summer Split after making it to the final, where they eventually lost to Cloud9. Currently, FlyQuest is tied for fourth place with a 6-6 record and hasn’t been able to find the same momentum the team had during the previous split.

During his talk on LCS teams, Westrice mentioned that Cloud9 is back on the right track after losing games to 100 Thieves and Evil Geniuses, and that LCS teams are getting a lot better in general in the ongoing summer split compared to in the spring.
