gob b unretires, returns to BIG as new Valorant captain
German organization BIG Clan has announced its plans to branch out into Riot Games’ tactical shooter, Valorant.
Its new team is centered around Counter Strike: Global Offensive veteran Fatih "gob b" Dayik, who retired from the game in 2019.
"As you know, I have been playing a lot of Valorant lately. It surprised me how much I am enjoying it, so I decided to play it in a competitive fashion," gob b announced on the organization's website.
Gob b has been active in Counter-Strike since 2003, making the jump to CSGO after the game launched in 2012. Playing with mousesports on multiple occasions, he is widely considered as one of the most successful players ever to come out of Germany and a true legend of the Counter-Strike scene. Known as one of the best in-game leaders in the history of Counter-Strike, his experience and savvy should be a valuable asset even with the change to a new game.
Apart from his in-game accolades, gob b is one of the founders of the BIG organization.
In addition to gob b, Alexander "alexRr" Frisch and Ceyhun "AslaN" Aslan will also be competing for BIG. Both are former CSGO players.
alexRr most recently competed for ad hoc gaming and expert eSport, winning multiple ESL Meisterschaft national tournaments.
AslaN has not yet competed in CSGO at a professional level, but made a name for himself by climbing the ranks of the FACEIT Pro League Challenge.
BIG CEO Daniel Finkler made it clear in the statement about the new division.
“The goal is clear. As in other titles, we want to be the best German team in Valorant, and I am optimistic that we will achieve that,” Finkler said.
It is still unknown who will be filling the two remaining spots on BIG’s Valorant roster.
