Babybay retires from Overwatch, leading to Valorant speculation
The exodus of veteran Overwatch players continues as Andrej "babybay" Francisty has announced his retirement from the game.
In a TweetLonger, babybay expanded on the reasons for his departure and gave some information on the future of his career.
“I can imagine this may be a shock to many, seeing as though I have been starting almost every game this season and performing really well. However, for the past month I feel like I lost a lot of the drive in this game that got me to where I am. My heart is just not in it anymore and I do still love Overwatch and it will always have a place in my heart but, it's time to move on for now,” babybay said.
An Overwatch League staple since its inception, babybay made a name for himself as one of the most talented DPS players in the game. Nicknamed the King due to both his in-game antics and larger-than-life persona, his contributions to the Overwatch competitive scene have been huge.
His Overwatch journey began after getting banned mid-stream for cheating in Counter Strike: Global Offensive. After grinding through the competitive scene with the likes of Kungarna and Splyce, babybay got his big break as a member of San Francisco Shock’s inaugural OWL roster.
Although the Shock didn’t see major success in the inaugural season, babybay was one of the standout players on the roster.
In Season 2, babybay and most other hitscan players took a backseat on the roster with the rise of the GOATS meta. He eventually left the Shock to join the Atlanta Reign in Stage 2. As a part of the Reign, Babybay remained a regular on the starting roster despite the acquisition of other DPS players.

Though he didn’t tease this, many are expecting him to announce a move to Valorant. Several other prominent Overwatch League stars have made similar moves, including Jay "sinatraa" Won and Daniel "Dafran" Francesca.
There is a very real possibility that this happens, as many organizations could use babybay’s skills and star power.
