The video game industry is constantly evolving and being shaped by new innovations and the latest technological developments.

Let’s dive in to discover five major video game trends that will likely be big in 2024, from VR and AR gaming to eSports gaming and blockchain technology and beyond.

Many exciting new trends are expected to hit big in the video gaming industry in 2024, but the five major video game trends that will impact the industry more than any others are the following:

  1. Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) will make gaming more immersive than ever
  2. Cloud gaming/on-demanding services will expand and flourish, allowing for more games on websites and fewer downloads
  3. Generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) will help transform the gaming experience on a personal level
  4. Blockchain technology with high levels of encryption will make in-game purchases quicker and more secure, + play-to-earn games will grow
  5. The competitive/professional eSports gaming industry will grow exponentially and become more mainstream, and spectatorship/participation/sponsorship deals and cash prizes will be bigger than ever

We will also see even more video gaming trends emerge throughout 2024, including faster internet speeds (e.g., 5G being rolled out in more regions) and improved streaming capabilities, eliminating the need to download games.

In the iGaming industry, this will mean live dealer games and online casino slots will be better than ever. It also means players will be able to stream the high-end, more graphically demanding triple-A games uninterrupted and with zero lagging or buffering issues.

Gaming consoles, smartphones and tablets, desktop computers and laptops will also improve and take the gaming experience to the next level. Metaverse gaming is also likely to become more mainstream, and we will see more platforms become available for PC gaming to rival the Steam platform.

Biggest games coming in 2024?

Whether you enjoy playing RPG games, MMORPG games, puzzle games, computer-generated online slots, classic table & card games, state-of-the-art live dealer games, Indie games, casual games, or triple-A games, there’s something for everyone to look forward to in 2024.

Some of the biggest games to look out for in 2024 are the following hotly anticipated new titles:

For example, certain triple-A games have a PEGI-18 age rating, whereas others can only be accessed in the real money mode at licensed and regulated iGaming sites.

Final thoughts

The industry looks set to generate even more revenue than in previous years, and there are many more trends anticipated for this year, which we haven’t covered here. These are exciting times for gamers across the globe, and 2024 looks like it will be packed with many surprises.
