Piano players go viral in Overwatch's new map
Overwatch players have discovered a new way to share their musical aptitude online.
Following the release of new assault map Paris, numerous players have discovered that a piano featured on the map is fully playable. And it didn’t take long for some players to show off their musical talents.
From Symmetra playing Smash Mouth’s “All-Star” and Toto’s “Africa,” to Zarya’s “Fur Elise,” the playable piano has become an overnight sensation. Two random players even got together before a match for a duet of “Heart and Soul.”
Symmetra appears to be the maestro of choice, but Zarya, Soldier 76, Widowmaker, and other heroes with appropriately accurate weapons can also play the small keys effectively.
Showing players’ dedication to this new art form, Youtuber ScroogeD demonstrated that exploiting a glitch in the game allows for actual chord progressions.
Located in Paris’ Cabaret Luna, the piano seems to be among the favorite spawn room activities to date, though others have come before it.
Reinhardt belts out off-key tunes in Busan’s karaoke spawn room when he interacts with the microphone, entertaining fellow teammates with lyrics like, “Sexy, sexy Reinhardt.” Heroes can view Earth through a telescope in Horizon Lunar Colony, each with their own unique voice line. And Roadhog’s secret stash is revealed in Junkertown’s assault spawn when two people stand on the two pressure plates outside the hidden room.
The playable piano is the most complex spawn room activity yet produced by Blizzard. At this rate, fans of the game may soon come to anticipate spawn room distractions as much as the maps themselves.
