100 Thieves fans are witnessing some serious dramatics with the roster changes announced by the team.

Right after its defeat to Team SoloMid, 100 Thieves announced a drastic roster move. Jungler William “Meteos” Hartman and support William “Stunt” Chen are to be replaced by Juan “Contractz” Garcia and Philippe “Poome” Lavoie-Giguere, respectively.

On Monday, 100 Thieves confirmed Stunt’s departure from the team. The organization also explained that all options are on the table for Meteos, including a transfer to another team. According to general manager Christopher “PapaSmithy” Smith, the team is willing to run a six-men roster with both Meteos and Contractz.

In spite of PapaSmithy’s assurance, Meteos’ place on the team might not be guaranteed after an outburst the player had on Twitter in which Meteos seemed to question the wisdom of the move and the knowledge of the team’s officials.

Stunt ready for a change in 2020 LCS Summer Split

Hours after the announcement, Stunt came up with his own statement regarding the roster move.

“I found out that I was completely off the team a couple hours after our loss. Honestly, I was expecting it. I’ve been in this spot before, I could kinda see the signs. People start to act differently around you,” Stunt wrote.

100 Thieves finished week three with just one victory compared to five losses and is currently tied for eighth with Immortals. This result is far from optimal for a team that finished the regular season in the spring in third place. PapaSmithy explained that these results forced the team to make a roster move.

Stunt didn’t agree with the timing of the decision, expressing that he still thought he and his teammates could turn things around even as their performance had declined.

“This summer we definitely didn’t start where we left off, but I still had full faith in our ability to improve as a team and as individuals. Though I can understand the want for change and I acknowledge my poor performance had to do with it, I truly believed that if we stuck together, we could make a resurgence in the standings just like we did in spring,” Stunt wrote.

100 Thieves back to its sketchy roster moves

In the past, 100 Thieves has received criticism for its treatment of players and the seemingly careless way the organization’s management handled contracts. The first incident took place back in 2018 when the team traded Meteos to FlyQuest without first consulting the player.

This time around, Stunt is the one left stranded. In an official video, PapaSmithy said that 100 Thieves would be working to find a new home for Stunt. However, Stunt clarified that he was dropped completely and that he would look for opportunities on his own.
