Meteos smack talks coach, GM after being benched by 100 Thieves

100 Thieves decided to bench William "Meteos" Hartman after a loss to Team SoloMid over the weekend and the jungler has expressed his opposition to the decision.

"This is gonna sound like a troll post but just got word that I'm being benched after Week 3 summer again," Meteos tweeted. "I'm not sure why I expected anything different."

That tweet has since been deleted, as was a follow-up tweet where Meteos accused his staff of not informing the rest of his teammates about the decision.

"Clearly the people not on the team know what's best for it," Meteos said sarcastically.

Meteos deleted Tweet

Seemingly regretting his outburst, Meteos deleted the angry tweets and replaced them with a tweet calling the benching a "blessing."

The damage was done though, and many fans and pro players had an opinion on the outburst.

Broxah lectures Meteos about his attitude

Team Liquid's Mads "Broxah" Brock-Pedersen didn't take kindly to Meteos' tweets, calling him out on a live stream soon after.

"If you got benched, the chances of you being able to play on stage again doesn't increase by you being furious, going on Twitter, and attacking your coaches. Telling the world that you think your coaches and staff have no idea what they're doing," Broxah ranted.

The League of Legends pro spent the Spring Split dealing with a similar situation, as Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng spent the spring expressing his disdain for practice and calling out his coaches for benching him over his attitude.

Next week, 100 Thieves will start Academy jungler Juan "Contractz" Aruto Garcia. Contractz started for Cloud9 in 2017 and then played for Golden Guardians later that year.

100 Thieves lost to TSM in a 48-minute game, falling because of some uncoordinated teamfights. This led to their fifth loss of the Summer Split, putting them in 8th place in the LCS standings. Next week 100 Thieves will take on the Golden Guardians in a match that 100 Thieves will need to win in order to maintain any playoff hopes.
