T1 is getting ready for franchising in the LCK and has extended a key player’s contract through 2022.

ADC extraordinaire Park "Teddy" Jin-seong has signed a two-year contract extension with T1. The deal comes just in time for the start of the 2020 LCK Summer Split where T1 is fighting for its fourth consecutive LCK title.

"I wanted to sign Teddy because he's the best ADC in the world. He's also a perfect fit for what we're trying to build here at T1. He's a great teammate, he's an even better person, and I love being around him. I'm really excited to have him for two more entire seasons,” T1 CEO Joe Marsh said.

Teddy joined T1 in 2018, replacing two-time World Champion Bae “Bang” Jun-sik. Even before joining T1, the community deemed Teddy as one of the best ADC in the LCK. With Teddy in the roster, T1 broke the record for the most consecutive domestic titles in the LCK with three. The team is hoping to establish a new record in summer and add its fourth consecutive LCK trophy to its case.

"I'm really glad to continue being with T1. I would also like to thank Joe and T1 for nurturing me and giving me a good offer. I hope to show a better form with my teammates,” Teddy said.

T1 has its eyes on a franchise

T1 is one of the teams that has applied to be part of the newly franchised LCK. It’s almost guaranteed that T1 will be part of the LCK for the years to come. Not only is it the organization with the most international titles, it is also the home of League of Legends' top star, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok. T1 is also one of the most recognizable brands in League of Legends, attracting premier sponsors including Nike, Samsung, and BMW.

Extending Teddy’s contract shows that the organization has its eyes on the future and is not slowing down.
