ONE Esports SEA League boasts strong teams, $100,000 prize pool
The ONE Esports SEA League will kick off on June 4 with top Dota 2 teams from the region.
As expected, ONE Esports announced an online tournament following the cancellation of the ONE Esports Singapore Major. This follows other organizers making similar moves including ESL, One Game Agency, and WePlay!. The event will feature a $100,000 prize pool, and will be co-presented by IO Esports. The winner of the event will take home $40,000.
Top teams from Southeast Asia will vie for the top spot of the tournament. Seven teams were directly invited to the event and three other teams will compete after clearing qualifiers. The regional qualifier is open for all players in the Southeast Asia server. This includes aspiring teams from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Korea.
The list of invited teams reads as follows:
The event represents a great opportunity for each of the competitors, who enter in very different positions. TNC Predator will be looking to retake its spot atop the region while Fnatic will try and keep momentum. T1 and BOOM Esports will look to continue their climbs and so on.
The first set of the qualifiers will be held from June 4 to June 5. Two teams will earn a golden ticket to the ONE Esports SEA League. The final schedule will take place on June 6. All matches will be played in the BO1 format until only one team remains. The winner will take the last spot in the main event.
The main event of ONE Esports SEA League will kick off on June 18 with a total of 10 participating teams. Participants will play in a round-robin group stage for 16 days. Two teams will exit the tournament while the remaining eight teams will advance to the playoffs.
The playoffs of ONE Esports SEA League will run from July 15 to 19 in a double-elimination, best-of-three format. The grand finals of the tournament will be best-of-five.
