OG is still alive in the OGA Dota PIT Online league, but the team is not in good shape.
OG took an utter drubbing at the hands of Team Secret in the upper bracket finals, leading to a 2-0 series loss.
The first game was incredibly bad for OG.
In the first 10 minutes, Sebastian “Ceb” Debs died four times as Dark Seer. That was offset to some degree as he got numerous revenge kills on Clement “Puppey” Ivanov. Things were even worse for Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng in the mid lane, as he gave three early kills to Michał "Nisha" Jankowski in a baffling one-on-one matchup between Queen of Pain and Earthshaker.
In a damning indictment of how poorly the game went for OG, Syed “SumaiL” Hassan played Alchemist, a hero who almost gaurantees his team will be even or at an advantage in net worth in any reasonably close game. And yet here, OG never came near to having a net worth lead. The final kill tally for game one was 34-5 in favor of Secret.
Ceb and MidOne bounced back a bit in game two, but things didn’t go much better for the rest of the team. Early kills by Secret gave them an edge in the mid game, with the lead growing exponentially from there. Once again, Secret found the victory in lopsided fashion, with the kill count standing at 37-10 for game two and 71-15 in the series.
Though no one looked particularly strong for OG, SumaiL and Martin "Saksa" Sazdov had an especially difficult series. The pair went 3-14 and 0-15 over the coures of the two games played.
SumaiL and OG struggles are likely temporary
OG is usually upbeat on social media regardless of how its games turn out, but even they couldn’t downplay how lopsided the loss to Secret was. They issued an uncharacteristically somber tweet to acknowledge the loss:
Even the best Dota 2 teams lose at some point, but a defeat this lopsided might be enough to strike fear into some fans of OG. Still, fans shouldn't read too much into this series. Despite being handicapped in multiple ways over the last few months, OG has generally performed well with each member of the squad showing their exceptional individual talent.
The team has a chance to rebound in the OGA Dota PIT league in the lower bracket, where they’ll face Team Liquid for a spot in the grand finals.
