Sylas unshackles and heads to League of Legends
The newest League of Legends champion has been revealed, and his ultimate ability is stealing more than just our attention.
Sylas was unveiled in his own character trailer which featured new champion’s gameplay kit. It is expected that he will best thrive as a laning AP bruiser.
Sylas is a former Demacian mage hunter who was locked away after a series of murders and stealing the magic of a young mage. After spending 15 years in prison, Sylas broke out by stealing Lux’s magic and escaping Demacia. Now his only desire is to return to his home country and use the chains that once imprisoned him to slaughter those who once left him to rot.
Petricite Burst is Sylas’ passive which activates after he uses a spell. It enables his next basic attack to whirl his chains around him, damaging nearby enemies.
His Q is Chain Lash, a ranged ability that strikes the ground to damages and slow opponents caught in its area of effect. After a brief delay, the section of ground that was struck detonates and applies an increased slow that further damages enemies.
Sylas’ W is Kingslayer, which allows the former mage hunter to lunge at an enemy, damaging the target and healing himself. The ability’s damage increases if the opponent’s health is low. If Sylas is at low health, the heal is increased, making the ability’s use a potential turning point in any engagement.
His E is Abscond/Abduct, which acts a two-part ability. Sylas first dashes a short distance and temporarily shields himself. He can then recast the ability to whip out his chains, stunning and damaging enemies and pulling himself to the first enemy hit.
Sylas’ R is Hijack and is the highlight of the new champion’s kit. The ability allows Sylas to target an opponent and copy their ultimate ability for his own use. This ultimate allows Sylas to affect the game in dramatically different ways depending on which champions he faces and from whom he steals abilities.
Riot Games hasn’t announced when players will be able to get their hands on Runeterra’s latest combatant.
