LCS analyst Jatt joins Team Liquid as new head coach for summer
Team Liquid has revealed that former LCS commentator Joshua "Jatt" Leesman as the new head coach for the upcoming 2020 LCS Summer Split.
Team Liquid is making major changes ahead of the summer season. Back in April, the team shared that head coach Jang "Cain" Nu-ri stepped down and assumed the role of strategic coach. Now, the organization has revealed Jatt as the head coach for the new season. Kang "Dodo" Jun-hyeok will remain with the organization and completes the coaching staff.
Jatt has more than 10 years of experience in League of Legends. He started his career as a pro player and eventually worked his way to the broadcasting desk. Jatt retired from casting briefly and worked with Riot Games as part of the balance team for League of Legends, but he soon returned to casting. Jatt is now assuming yet another new role as head coach of none other than Team Liquid, the four-time LCS championship squad.
Jatt is not the first caster to make this transition. Former LEC caster Martin "Deficio" Lynge is now Origen’s general manager. Former LCK caster Christopher "PapaSmithy" Smith is 100 Thieves’ League of Legends general manager. Former LPL caster Barento "Raz" Mohammed is the current head coach for Golden Guardians Academy.
Team Liquid looks for new identity after Doublelift leaves
Team Liquid had a rough spring, as the team finished in ninth place and dealt with a series of internal issues. Jatt is hoping to get the team back on track working on the roster’s identity.
“I'm not going to be the type of coach that says 'this is our identity, this is how we're going to play', I'm hoping that I'm able to gather all the information from the players and the coaches and help align everyone towards the same goal. That's how we'll find and identity,” Jatt said in the announcement video.
Jatt confirmed once more to fans that Edward “Tactical” Ra as the starting ADC for the team. The rest of the roster will remain the same, with Jung "Impact" Eon-yeong in the top lane, Mads "Broxah" Brock-Pedersen in the jungle, Nicolaj "Jensen" Jensen in the mid lane, and Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in as the team's support.
